The Viking Age was rich with crafts and artistry, much of which still survives today. Our civilians have a strong research-based focus, and we encourage our members to delve into an area that interests them so they can share that knowledge with the public.
We have craftspeople skilled in many areas, including:
- spinning, weaving, and nålbinding
- blacksmithing, woodworking, and leathercraft
- sewing, textiles, and natural dyes
- pottery and jewellery making
- Viking Age cooking
Jorth Gar’s aim is to present an accurate representation of our era and area, and we are proud of our members’ knowledge, attention to detail, and ongoing research. As new historical finds and methods emerge, our understanding broadens, allowing us to improve our standards and techniques. Historical crafts and textiles are rich and extensive topics, and we’re confident there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
If you’re interested in joining Jorth Gar as a civilian or craftsperson, come along to a training session, where you can meet some of our warriors and civilians and learn more about the group. Check our Facebook for upcoming trainings, and contact us to let us know you’re coming.
